Hola amigos! I’m feeling very happy today because, although I haven’t had this blog for very long, I was fortunate enough to be nominated for a Liebster Award by Healthy In All Hues. Muchas gracias! I feel like I got an Oscar! Ok, back to reality.
Don’t forget to subscribe! I got a Liebster award!
Before I started blogging, I had never heard of the Liebster Awards, but after doing some googling thorough research, I found out this is how bloggers acknowledge other bloggers they think are fabulous. Also, it’s an excellent way to discover and promote small blogs. So, I’m all for it!
The rules
As I pour myself some tequila to celebrate, I will recap the Liebstar Award rules:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back.
- Answer the questions posted by the nominator.
- Nominate other bloggers and notify them.
- Create questions for the nominees.
- Display the Liebster Award badge and the rules on your blog.
Ok, now I will sip some more of my tequila and answer the questions.
The questions
How did you get started on your blog?
Honestly, I wanted to be a writer ever since I was growing up, but somehow, that dream got lost and I took another career path. For years, writing remained in the back of my mind until one day, I realized I didn’t need to get published- I could just publish my own blog! It was incredibly hard to do, though. I thought about it for months before I finally got up the courage to try. I started blogging in Spanish, but then I just couldn’t resist writing in English. I love doing both!
FYI, this is my Spanish-language blog: mamimaravilla.wordpress.com
What is the hardest thing you’ve found about blogging?
Finding readers and promoting my blogs has been a challenge. I blogged for almost six months with virtually no traffic until I finally started improving. At least now I have a Liebster Award!
What is your favorite blog post?
I put a lot of thought into each post, so it’s hard to pick one, but I definitely loved writing How to eat a cactus and not die trying. That is such an exotic food to anyone who is not from Mexico, that I figured it would be fun to share! I also love cooking with my mom, so it was double the fun.
If you had one day to live, what would you do?
Spend time with my family. I would wake up and cook up brunch and then eat with my children and my husband. I would play with my baby girl and my little boy, and sit down for a nice chat with my teenage son. Yes, he and I do that sometimes! I would go to dinner at my mom’s, and cook something delicious with her. Then, come home and read to my little boy before he goes to bed. And cuddle with my husband, and talk with him until my last day is over.
Sweet or savory?
Savory! You can actually mix all kinds of flavors and spices with something savory, including sweet. Mexican cuisine is the proof of that!
What is your favorite passion or hobby?
Aside from writing, I love working out. I do exercise everyday except Sunday, and I love it! I do HIIT, circuit training, yoga, and lift weights. I started a fitness routine after I had my baby girl, and I now I just can’t stop! On my Spanish-language blog, I write about my health and fitness journey.
What is a motto or quote you live by?
I don’t know who said it, but this is my favorite quote: “Everyday is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success and leave its failures behind and start over again.”
Name one person that has inspired you.
I love Malala Yousafzai. She is too amazing and inspiring for words!
What is a guilty pleasure of yours?
I have to say chocolate. I could drown in it, seriously! Show me a piece of chocolate and I turn into the Cookie Monster. Or the Chocolate Monster.
If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Chocolate, because I love it! Well, I’m really split into either chocolate or avocado. They are both rich and full of fat, so I love them both. I would have a hard time deciding on one! In fact, I feel like eating a bit of both right now.
My nominations
I absolutely love reading these blogs, and I think everyone should check them out!
Questions for the nominees:
- Why did you start your blog?
- How do you find inspiration for your posts?
- What do you like and/or dislike most about blogging?
- What is your biggest challenge as a blogger?
- What motivates you to keep blogging?
- What do you like to do in your free time?
- What would the perfect day be like for you?
- What is number one in your bucket list?
- Who is the most important person in your life?
- What is a motto or quote you live by?
- What will you do when your blog makes it big?
And finally…
Keep up the good work, nominees! I know it’s not easy, but it’s worth it. Thanks again to Healthy in All Hues for nominating me and thanks to all the blogging community for coming up with such great ideas to help newbies like me. Muchas gracias to you all!
And now, I will pour myself some more tequila.
Don’t forget to check out my nominees’ blogs!

Es todo un reto atraer lectores al blog. Es muy difícil para la gente entender lo que es un blog y por qué tenemos uno habiendo tantas cosas por hacer… pero poco a poco vamos ganando terreno.
